Training & Mentorship

Professional training & development opportunities, guided by the Training & Mentorship Committee.

Based on feedback from members, we are assembling a centralized list of relevant training resources. Some examples include:

  • MILESTONES Program – A well-established initiative for adult and pediatric GI fellows pursuing advanced IBD training, led by Cynthia Seow. It includes monthly virtual sessions on important but often under-taught topics in IBD.
  • Next Generation IBD Leaders – A separate program aimed at early career faculty, also involving Dr. Seow and coordinated by Stacy Finch (AGILIS).
  • TRIANGLE Virtual Sessions – Pending confirmation from TRIANGLE leadership, these sessions may soon be made accessible to non-TRIANGLE members.
  • EMBO Training Courses (Leadership, Project Management, Negotiation, Design Principles): A broad set of in-person and virtual professional development courses for postdocs and group leaders, including laboratory leadership, project management for scientists, negotiation skills, and schematic figure design. Offered regularly throughout 2025–2026 (both online and in person options).
  • PICCLes – PICCLes is a growing initiative of Pediatric IBD specialists, gastroenterologists, and trainees across North America designed to support education, collaboration, and clinical dialogue in the management of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.

Efforts are underway to learn more about our members’ mentorship priorities and help facilitate connections based on their interests and career stage.

If you are interested in being paired with a mentor, we want to know:

  1. What areas you are seeking mentorship in (e.g., grant writing, clinical research, statistics, career development, work–life balance, choosing a research focus, etc.)
  2. Your area of special focus
  3. Whether you have someone specific in mind that you would like us to connect you to, or if you would prefer that we help identify a mentor with overlapping interests or expertise.

Join the Training & Mentorship community!

For Trainees -- if you are an early career faculty member, become a part of our community and receive training resources, connection opportunities and mentorship.

For Mentors and other CIDsCaNN members -- get news and updates from the Training & Mentorship Committee.
